This is a mentor session for insight and inspiration.
I've been prepping for mentor sessions for quite some time now. I'm already invested into a few of them currently. It's always been in the back of my mind, but I haven't had the time to sit down and put this thing on paper or the web in this case. Over the past 5 years, I've put my life and heart into creating timeless work for my clients. I'm at the point now where I really feel my knowledge can be beneficial and is worth sharing.
I turned down a few conventions in 2016 mainly because I didn't have time to sit down and put some heart into speaking just yet. The offseason came around and I really had some time to put together a solid line up for topics and discussions that I wish I freakin' knew when I entered this industry. This session is for those who are passionate about doing this and wanting to get ahead of the game.
The session is incredibly laid back with open discussion. I'm an open book and I am willing to answer any questions you have! We'll meet up at a local coffee house and setup shop! I have 6 main topics that we'll discuss with about a million sub topics in between!
1. CLIENT INTERACTION / CAPTURE REAL EMOTION / SHOOTING TIPS
We'll cover how to talk with clients, contracts and meetings. How to become close with your clients and allowing them to open up in front of the camera. Things to do to get your clients comfortable. We'll also cover shooting tips, lighting and location scouting along with much more!
We'll talk about workflow and editing process and how I can edit through an entire wedding within 4-6 hours while keeping all of my images consistent. How to stay organized. We'll cover these programs:
A. Smart Albums/Smart Slides
B. Photo Mechanic
E. Alien Skin Exposure
3. HOW TO PRESENT YOUR WORK
How you present your work is a key point in marketing to the clients you fit well with. We'll talk about Instagram, Facebook and other social medias. We'll cover websites, blogging, slideshows, albums and delivering weddings. We'll cover composition and what your overall goal is when capturing a moment.
4. STRATEGIES TO BOOKING IDEAL CLIENTS & CLIENT EXPERIENCE
We've covered how to present your work, which is key in getting the weddings that fit with your style. We'll talk on strategies and steps you can take to getting your ideal client. And why you should stop fantasizing about shooting a wedding in a new country/state every weekend! We'll also talk on how to deal with clients who may not understand what's right or wrong to ask.
5. BUSINESS SIDE / FINANCES / TAXES
Oh yes, everyone's favorite part. I really like this topic because I graduated with a business degree, so I understand this side of the business very well. We'll discuss all sorts of tax related topics. We'll talk on what you can write off and programs you can get to help you keep track of your expenses much easier. I'll also cover an app that helps you log your miles with the ease of swiping right or left, just like Tinder. This is possibly one of the biggest topics since like you're kind of running a business. And of course why you should insure your gear and business!
6. FINDING THE MEANING IN WHY YOU DO THIS
I like closing with this topic because it's a refresher on why we are in this business and doing this. It should not be for money and it should certainly not be for fame. This should be a passion on capturing other's love and understanding the meaning of why marriage is freakin' kick ass. We'll discuss why it's totally okay to cry at weddings because they melt your heart and seeing people passionately in love just makes you weep with joy.
HOW LONG AND HOW MUCH?
The session will last 3 hours and the cost will be $400.
Remember this is an investment into your future!
These are in person if you're in Nebraska and if you're out of state or country, then online is available via FaceTime or Skype!
